Chilli & Ginger Chicken With Miso Broth Rice
Our Chilli & Ginger Chicken With Miso Broth Rice is the ultimate comfort dish - October’s here, kids are back at school, life's busy, and colds are back in full force. No one has time to spend hours on a weekday meal, but we all want comforting, nutritious food that feels like a hug in a bowl. This brothy rice is the ultimate quick fix that nourishes your soul and your body in under 30 minutes. Our top tips for a speedy weeknight meal that packs a punch: Keep chopped frozen herbs in the freezer. You can either do this yourselves or buy from most supermarkets Keep packs of microwaveable rice in the cupboard. Our favourite for extra flavour is the Tilda Lime & Coriander Itsu miso easy pouches are a lifesaver. Pop one of these sachets in some chicken stock and you instantly have a delicious broth that feeds your gut microbiome and your soul Ingredients (for 2) For the chicken 2 chicken breasts 1 tsp chopped chilli 1 tsp chopped garlic 1 tsp ginger puree 1 tsp sesame oil Juice of 1 lime For the miso broth rice 1 sachet of Itsu Miso Easy 1 chicken stock cube 1 tsp sesame oil 1 tbsp soy sauce 1 tbsp fish sauce 1 tsp chopped chilli 1 tsp chopped garlic Handful of chopped coriander (plus extra to serve) 1 packet of microwave rice (we used Tilda Lime & Coriander) 1 carrot (prepped into ribbons) 1 large handful spinach 1 red pepper (cut into thin strips) Method - Pre-heat your oven to 200 degrees celsius - For the chicken: mix together the chilli, garlic, ginger puree, sesame oil and lime, and distribute evenly over the chicken breasts. Bake in the oven for 30 mins - While the chicken is in the oven, turn your attention to the best bit! In a pan, heat your sesame oil and fry the garlic and chilli until slightly softened (approx. 1 min) - Add in the miso sachet and chicken stock, followed by all the veg. Pop in the soy sauce, fish sauce and coriander, and leave to get tasty in the pot while the chicken cooks. - Remove your chicken from the oven once cooked and set aside to cool for a minute. - Put the rice in the microwave for 2 minutes and, while it's in there, slice your chicken breasts into even horizontal strips. - Once the rice is hot, split between the bowls, ladle over the broth and then put your chicken on top. - Sprinkle some more coriander on top and voila! So, how does this help your body? Boosts your immune system - the mix of garlic, ginger and chilli not only adds flavour, but also contains natural compounds that help your body fight off colds and reduce inflammation. Good for your gut - miso is a fermented food that is rich in probiotics, supporting a balanced gut microbiome. Paired with fresh lime and coriander, it's also rich in antioxidants that promote healthy digestion too. Packed with lean protein & vitamins - chicken breasts are a great source of lean protein to keep you feeling fuller for longer, while the range of vegetables add lots of nutrients (e.g. Vitamin C and beta-carotene from carrots, and iron from spinach) for all-round wellbeing.

Learn moreIncredible women, inspiring stories - Meet Kelly
At You're Looking Well, we prioritise having conversations that matter. We sat down with friend of YLW, Kelly Newton, to discuss her journey to becoming the CEO and Co-Founder of NIXI Body, why she started the brand and her mission to remove the stigma around Endometriosis and the Menopause. Meet Kelly Newton... Kelly is the CEO and Co-Founder of NIXI Body, award-winning absorbent underwear designed to support women through menstruation, motherhood, and menopause. After struggling with endometriosis and experiencing bladder leaks following a hysterectomy, she set out to create leak-proof knickers that were both discreet and comfortable—without the bulk of traditional options. Today, NIXI Body is trusted by thousands and has been named Underwear of the Year four times by Women’s Running Magazine. Can you tell us a bit about your personal health journey and how it led you to create NIXI Body? "I started my periods when I was 15 and from the very beginning suffered with heavy bleeding and terrible cramps. I’d always loved playing sports and found a way to manage to continue playing and tried not to let it affect my game. I was eventually diagnosed with endometriosis when I was 39 years old and had several laparoscopies but ended up having a hysterectomy when I was 42 years old. I was told by the surgeon that he had kept my ovaries in so I didn’t go into early menopause, however within the year I was suffering with many of the menopause symptoms (depression, anxiety, panic attacks). My first physical symptom was bladder leaks and every time I stretched for the ball at hockey, I would leak slightly. I was devastated and it really knocked my confidence. I didn’t want to give up as sport is so good for me physically and mentally. I bought some leak-proof knickers from Amazon but they were so big and bulky I felt like I was wearing a nappy and they rustled like a crisp packet (!) I thought there had to be a more discreet way and that was when the idea for NIXI was born." How did your experience with endometriosis and a hysterectomy shape your approach to product design? "I knew it was really important to me to feel comfortable and covered for any leaks but I also didn’t want it to be obvious that I was wearing any protection. With endometriosis scarring it was important that the waistband was soft and would also feel comfortable for endo bloating and for stomas." Starting a brand in such a personal and often taboo space takes courage—what kept you going in the early days? "I knew from speaking to my friends at hockey that this was an issue that affected so many of us and I must admit that I found it so difficult in the beginning to talk openly about it. However, once we started to get really candid reviews from customers and having met so many women at events who opened up to me, I felt it was really important for me to talk about my experiences more. I think the more I spoke about it, I knew that sharing what was happening to me was really helping other women to feel less alone." What were some of the biggest challenges you faced when launching NIXI Body? "The fact that I knew absolutely nothing about business was probably my biggest challenge, with just starting the menopause coming a close second. I didn’t realise that I was menopausal and was suffering with depression and anxiety so not really in a good place to start a business. I didn’t rush setting everything up, I did it at my own pace hence it took me about 2 years before I launched." How did you go about finding the right materials to deliver on both comfort and performance? "I took a lot of guidance from the factory who I believe are the absolute experts in these products. I knew I didn’t want cotton, I wanted something longer lasting and durable as they were designed for sports purposes. Nylon weighs 1/7 the weight of cotton but is so much more durable. Our knickers will last up to 3 years." NIXI Body has now won Underwear of the Year four times—what do you think sets it apart from other options on the market? "Our USP is discretion, you cannot see any of our knickers underneath the tightest of gym leggings yet they can hold up to 4 tampons worth of blood/20ml of urine. They were designed for sport and movement and they do exactly what they say on the box! The other knickers on the market have not been designed with movement or discretion in mind and can be bulky and uncomfortable." You’re a powerful advocate for breaking taboos—how do you think we can shift the conversation around leaks, menstruation, and menopause? "I think we need to be using the correct terminology for starters as that can remove the shame and stigma associated with these issues. Educating young people from a young age (both girls and boys) can be really powerful. Open and honest conversations and sharing our stories is so important." What do you think women need more of in the wellness space right now? "Honesty and transparency. It’s so easy to get caught up in faddy products with no science or testing behind them and you can be really vulnerable when experiencing some of the issues associated with menopause and heavy periods." What role does You’re Looking Well play in your daily routine? "I really like the sleep pill! I have honestly found it has really helped with the broken sleep I’ve experienced from menopause." When you feel overwhelmed, what’s your go-to reset? "Get outside, move my body and get some fresh air! I stick on my playlist and stomp the streets, honestly it makes such a difference to my mood." What’s been your proudest moment since founding NIXI Body? "It’s definitely the feedback we get from our customers. Some of the reviews we receive are really candid and I know how hard it must have been to share. Never underestimate how good a founder feels when the 5* reviews roll in!" What have you learned about resilience—both in business and personally? "I think resilience has come with age for me. Starting menopause was such a tough time and to come through the other side of crippling anxiety and depression and really struggling to hold everything together, to feeling the most powerful I ever have is really quite magical!" What’s next for NIXI Body—any exciting innovations or launches on the horizon? "We have some really exciting projects coming up and more amazing sports collaborations. We are really passionate about helping as many women as we can to keep moving their body and to educate on all the tools that will help them. Watch this space!" And finally, what does “looking well” mean to you? "Feeling good both physically and mentally!" Discover NIXI Body and enjoy an exclusive 15% off with code: YLW15
Learn moreSmashed peas, with zesty lemon, on toast
Say goodbye to avocado fatigue—our latest seasonal recipe is a fresh take on toast that’s perfect for summer. Smashed peas with zesty lemon, topped with silky smoked salmon or a soft-boiled egg, make an energising breakfast or a light, satisfying lunch that feels as good as it tastes. Ingredients (for 1) 50g peas 50g cottage cheese (5g protein!) 5g grated Parmesan 1 spring onion Handful of basil Juice of half a lemon A slice or two of your favourite bread Your preferred topping e.g. smoked salmon or a soft-boiled egg Method - Once you’ve gathered and measured all the ingredients, pop them in a blender and blitz until your desired consistency. - Then spread on some toast and top with whatever your heart desires (we like some omega-3 rich smoked salmon). This breakfast gave me 26g of protein and 7g of fibre, so kept me full and productive. So, how does fibre benefit your body? Everyone goes on on about fibre, but why is it so important? Read on to discover just a few of our favourite benefits (other than bowel support) below:- Helps support your gut microbiome. Fibre is digested in your colon, rather than your stomach. This means it feeds the “good” bacteria in the gut when digested.- Helps you feel fuller for longer, so if weight loss is your goal, it can be really helpful to focus on a fibre rich diet.- Balances cholesterol levels.- Prevents blood sugar spikes by slowing down the rate at which soluble glucose is absorbed into the bloodstream. If your focus is energy levels, this is great as it keeps helps to keep energy levels more stable throughout the day.
Learn moreFeel-good Feta Eggs
Creamy, tangy, and totally addictive—our take on the viral feta eggs is back and better than ever. Perfect for sun-soaked mornings or a quick, feel-good lunch, this simple dish brings big flavour with minimal effort. Ingredients (for 1) 1 egg 30g feta Half a courgette A knob of butter A slice of bread Optional: chilli flakes or avocado topper Method - Grate your courgette. - Pop a little knob of butter into the pan and then mix in your grated courgette. - Fry until soft and then sprinkle the feta in and around the courgette, making a little nest. - Cook for 2ish mins and then make a little hole in the middle for the egg. Crack in the egg, and cook the egg until it reaches your preferred level. - Pop onto a piece of toast and sprinkle on the garnish. How does this benefit your body? EGGS: high in protein so will keep you full but also has lots of vitamin A, vitamin B-12 and selenium. Selenium is a mineral that supports cognition and immune function by maintaining thyroid hormone metabolism and DNA synthesis, protecting the body from oxidative damage and infection. FETA: super tasty and full of “good fats” which help satiety when paired with protein. Feta is also made through a fermentation process, so provides “good” gut bacteria COURGETTES: adds fibre to this meal, supporting your gut microbiome. Fibre is digested in your colon, rather than your stomach it feeds the “good” bacteria in the gut when digested. Fibre also helps you feel fuller for longer, so if weight loss is your goal, it can be really helpful to focus on a fibre rich diet whilst also balancing cholesterol levels.

How does YLW help to support you in your day to day life? "YLW couldn’t have landed in my life at a better time. I’ve been on a bit of a health and wellness journey this year, and what I love about the products is the simplicity – a day pill and cream, a night pill and cream. I’ve never been one for complicated routines or shelves of products. Since I started, I’ve noticed I’m sleeping better, I’ve stopped doom scrolling late at night, and my skin is brighter and healthier. But the biggest impact? People keep saying, “you’re looking well”, and I really feel it too.." What does success look like for you? "For me, success is about building something that truly matters, something that lifts others up. Whether that’s creating a moment on stage where a founder feels seen and celebrated, or building a platform that gives visibility to businesses on the rise, it’s those human moments of impact that make me feel the most fulfilled." How do you prioritise carving out time for self care each day, considering the unique challenges that women often face in balancing various responsibilities? "It’s about boundaries. As women, we’re often conditioned to be everything to everyone, but I’ve realised I’m better in all areas of life when I make space for myself too. Whether that’s stepping away for a walk, a proper night’s sleep, or simply saying “no” when something doesn’t serve me, self-care isn’t a luxury, it’s essential." What are three things that make you feel empowered? "Hearing other women share honestly about both the highs and the hard bit, vulnerability is power. Creating opportunities and spaces that champion others. Feeling strong in my body and mind: sleep, exercise, water, repeat!" Lastly, can you share a fun fact about yourself or something people wouldn't expect with us? "In my late teens and early twenties, I spent two years working in what I later realised was a massive pyramid scheme, door-knocking in the South Wales valleys on 100% commission until 9pm every night. I completely bought into the dream they were selling, and against all odds, I was actually great at it. I became the top UK salesperson, got flown to Greece and Italy to speak on stages about sales techniques, which is hilarious given I had no idea what I was doing, and was not meant for the stage; used to go bright red if someone said hello to me. Looking back, it was one of the most formative chapters of my life. I met the friendliest people (especially the further up the valleys you went, I once got driven around in the back of an ice cream van by a man who wanted to sign up his whole family). It taught me resilience, how to handle rejection, how to connect with people, and, oddly enough, probably paved the way for everything I’ve done since." Kelly Newton Kelly Newton is the CEO and Co-Founder of NIXI Body, award-winning absorbent underwear designed to support women through menstruation, motherhood, and menopause. What's your go to wellness routine and how does YLW help to support you in your day to day life? "I start the day with some breathing exercises to regulate any feelings of anxiety I may have. I also stretch out my body, especially my lower back. Twice a week I have an online workout with my PT which I absolutely love. Of course, being realistic, some weeks I don’t have time to do any of this, but the trick is to not beat yourself up about it! I drink my bulletproof coffee and take my YLW day pill. Probiotics and collagen. I try to drink at least 2 litres of water each day and when I’m working from home I try to get outside for at least half an hour. Being post menopausal, I have really struggled with sleep but since I have taken the night pill, I definitely have less broken sleep and if I do wake up, I can tend to get back to sleep a lot easier. I also feel like I have had less anxiety since taking them! YLW came very highly recommended by lots of my sisterhood group, so I was really keen to try them!" What does success look like for you? "Success for me isn’t about money or material possessions, it’s about having time to spend with loved ones. A successful day for me is when I’ve had fun, laughed, got some fresh air and managed to squeeze some work in!" How do you prioritise carving out time for self care each day, considering the unique challenges that women often face in balancing various responsibilities? "I don’t have great boundaries, I would work all the hours of the day if my husband didn’t stop me but my non-negotiables have always been supplements and probiotics. Some weeks I forget to put my HRT patch on but I never forget to take my supplements!" What are three things that make you feel empowered? "My family, especially my husband, sons and my mum who are all so proud of me. My groups of girlfriends, some who have been friends for almost 40 years. They are all so supportive of what I do and I love sharing my success with them. Going to India with the Sisterhood was without doubt one of the most empowering experiences of my life. Having to drive the wrong way down a motorway and cut across 6 lanes of traffic was a do or die moment that has made me realise how cool headed I can be in a difficult situation." Lastly, can you share a fun fact about yourself or something people wouldn't expect with us? "I used to ring the church bells when I was at school for money. We used to get £5 a wedding!" Hannah Murray Hannah Murray caught the travel bug early, living and working across Europe before embarking on an 18-month solo trip through Australia, New Zealand, and Thailand by the age of 20. In 2003, she moved to Marbella—and never left. She began her career at Talk Radio Europe as a producer, landing interviews with stars like Ricky Gervais, Alan Carr, and Heston Blumenthal. Now a seasoned presenter, she hosts TRE in the Afternoon and The Book Show, having interviewed the likes of Eva Longoria, Mary Berry, and Lee Child. Hannah is also a regular contributor to Good Morning Spain and co-hosts the Marbella with Him & Her podcast with her husband PJ Lopez, sharing local insights and events with listeners around the world. What's your go to wellness routine and how does YLW help to support you in your day to day life? "I didn't really get into a regular skin care routine until I turned 40, and I know I don't drink enough water! I eat relatively well though and try to do regular exercise classes - a mixture of spinning, pilates, zumba and body combat. I really love the YLW creams! The lightness of the day cream feels great on my face in the morning, setting me up for the day, and the night cream is definitely more nourishing, great for bedtime. I completely get why the products are called You're Looking Well, as that's literally what people say to you!!" What does success look like for you? "This is a tricky one, as I think most people would liken success to being wealthy. Funnily enough, I interviewed someone this week who said that you're successful if you have found your purpose in life. I'm definitely fulfilled interviewing interesting people, and take pride in coming up with questions that people haven't had before. Guest often say "What a great question", which is nice. I'm also blessed to do a podcast with my husband. We have a similar sense of humour and we're on the same wavelength about most things, which is a blessing." How do you prioritise carving out time for self care each day, considering the unique challenges that women often face in balancing various responsibilities? "It's definitely not easy with all the different things I'm doing...and I don't even have children. I honestly don't know how some women do it! I have to really think about my priorities each day and somehow make it all work! I always do my nightly skin care routine, and take my tablets. But need to be better with my water intake!" What are three things that make you feel empowered? "The support and encouragement of my husband, my father, and my friends is vital. I'm very blessed with the people I have around me. I'm definitely empowered by The Sisterhood too. It's fantastic having such a large group of women all rooting for each other, as it doesn't always happen like that! It really is a great bunch of women." Lastly, can you share a fun fact about yourself or something people wouldn't expect with us? "I'm part of an amateur dramatics group, and a couple of years ago I played one of the leading ladies in 'Calendar Girls'. We actually made a calendar for charity, and I framed the picture of me (Miss October) for my husband for our anniversary. I'm pruning the flowers, which tastefully cover up my chest!"
